According to reports, Synopsys, Inc. (NASDAQ:SNPS) has decided to enter into a collaboration deal with TSMC in order to develop an expanded 16FF+ custom-design reference flow. As per the information, a new reference flow will be developed with the help of custom-design solution of SNPS.

Insights of the new collaboration:

The new expanded custom-reference flow is capable of adding new technologies to the layout and schematic environment to accelerate and streamline eye steering custom-design for 16FF+ process of TSMC. There are a lot of improvements that this new custom-design can bring to light. Some of the main improvements include estimation of layout-dependent effects before final layout, new and advance methods for design constraints management, a simplified  yet powerful method to run pre-layout and post-layout simulation etc. Other improvements are schematic-driven layout with FinFET devices and an effective and streamlined graphical user interface for layout of guard rings and matched devices. Senior management executives of both the companies are very delighted to come together for increasing custom-design productivity. Recently while giving an interview, Suk Lee, Senior Director, Design Infrastructure Marketing Division at TSMC told reporters his company’s objectives and vision. According to him, customers need an effective design methodology, EDA tools and IP in one place without any hassle whenever they are ready to adopt a new technology. He has worked closely with SNPS team in order to ensure that all the custom design solutions for 16FF+ process node were in line and available to all the customers.

Circuit design engineers need a hassle free and smooth path for communicating various constraints to the  layout designers during the development cycle of 16FF+ design. No other company is capable of providing more comprehensive solutions than Synopsys, Inc. (NASDAQ:SNPS) for constraint management in 16FF+ design development. It will add many more features to make this procedure easier in the future.
